The Adidas Superstar was the first low leather basketball shoe made. The characteristic of the sneaker is the iconic rubber toe cap, which is why the sneaker became known as "The Shell Toe". The shoe was adopted by hip-hop culture and Run-DMC in particular embraced it and made it big in the late eighties. Superstar first saw the light of day in 1969.
