The Adidas Superstar was the first low leather basketball shoe. Due to its iconic rubber toe cap, the sneaker became known as "The Shell Toe". It was adopted by the hip-hop culture and Run-DMC in particular embraced it and made it big in the late eighties. The Superstar was first released in 1969.
